Will tourism be renewed after the health crisis, move towards more responsible approaches or partly resume its usual course. The sector will have to innovate anyway to catch the ball. To tackle this next phase, Atout France and the Welcome City Lab are launching the 2nd edition of the Innov’2021 Tourism Challenge, which includes a digital component. The initiative seeks to identify existing solutions, already operational in tourism or that can be applied to it, “in order to accelerate their deployment for the benefit of the French tourist economy”, indicates the specifications. These solutions can target the general public, professionals and territories.

The innovations proposed must respond to one or more themes: re-establishing the relationship of trust with customers by integrating health recommendations, implementing more responsible tourism (including a better distribution of flows in space and time), improving customer knowledge by relying on data, enrich the customer experience, in particular through digital, robotics or artificial intelligence. It is specified that particular attention will be paid to responses based on systems developed by the State including DATAtourisme, the open data platform for tourist information.

Coaching in engineering and on-site experiments

Many partners, ministries, regions, investment banks and players in the field (ADN Tourisme, ADP, SETE, RMN-GP, Vinci Airports) are supporting this challenge. Successful candidates will receive a financial contribution of 5,000 to 10,000 € HT or its equivalent in engineering coaching. They can also be helped to deploy the solution through experiments on partner sites or, depending on the case, access expertise for international deployment. Applications must be submitted before Sunday, June 6, 2021 at midnight on the site hosting applications for the Challenge Tourisme Innov’2021.
