Ipanema SD-WAN activity bought by Extreme Networks
Extreme Networks plans to acquire Ipanema Technologies’ SD-WAN business from France’s Infovista for about $73 million.
In an effort to bolster its cloud management business, Extreme Networks announced the upcoming acquisition of Ipanema Technologies’ SD-WAN business for approximately $73 million in cash. Since 2015, Ipanema and its SD-WAN business have belonged to the French publisher Infovista, a specialist in network performance orchestration solutions, and has around 400 customers, mainly in Europe. Its cloud-managed SD-WAN platform is designed to deliver diverse workloads and applications securely across conventional WANs and multicloud service providers.
Adjust application traffic flows according to network conditions
Ipanema’s technology automatically adjusts application traffic flows in real time based on network conditions. This helps increase performance and improve the quality of experience for end users, while saving businesses money, Extreme Networks CEO Ed Meyercord said in a statement. “We plan to extend these capabilities to integrate an infinitely distributed SD-WAN and secure solution within the ExtremeCloud portfolio”, he added.
ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ) is Extreme Networks’ cloud-based wired and wireless network management offering. XIQ offers a variety of wired and wireless management, analytics, location tracking, security, and IoT support services. It supports services from various cloud operators, including those from AWS, GCP, and Azure.
4 major takeovers since 2016 for Extreme Networks
Extreme Networks has a history of purchasing technology to expand its product lines. Since 2016, the company has brought in Zebra Technologies, Brocade, Avaya and Aerohive to help build a portfolio of wired and wireless networking and cloud management solutions under the XIQ umbrella. The company continues to grow financially and posted record annual revenue of $1.009 billion for its fiscal year 2021 (ended June 30). “Reaching the billion dollar mark has been a long-term goal for us. This is a key milestone that illustrates the company’s growth and good positioning,” Meyercord told Network World in a recent interview.
The acquisition of Ipanema is expected to be finalized in October 2021.
