Paessler extends access to its network monitoring service in SaaS

Present on the large accounts market, the German company Paessler is launching the hosted network monitoring solution PRTG Hosted Monitor to also target SMEs. The publisher is counting on expanding its MSP network to include new players to serve these companies.

If the existence of a SaaS offer is not new at Paessler, the fact that it is becoming a development lever for the German publisher is one. The latter has just made PRTG Hosted Monitor, the hosted version (at AWS) of PRTG Network Monitor, its flagship network monitoring solution, available worldwide. The service has been operational for 4 years but was only accessible to large accounts in the American market, directly from the publisher in addition. From now on, the partners are also involved in its distribution.

One entry ticket fixed at 500 sensors with PRTG Hosted Monitor

“PRTG Hosted Monitor represents both an offer to win new customers and new partners,” says Claire Kago, business development manager for Paessler in France. The new customers in question are SMEs, a target that PRTG Network Monitor, sold for a minimum of 20,000 sensors, did not allow to reach. It usually takes 8 sensors (basic monitoring elements that usually monitor a measured value in the network) to monitor a single piece of equipment at different levels. Regarding PRTG Hosted Monitor, the entry ticket has been placed at 500 sensors, the number of which can then be raised in stages (1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, etc.).

In terms of partnerships, PRTG Hosted Minitor is a way for Paessler to expand its network of managed service providers (MSPs). In France, the publisher claims collaboration with 400 service providers of this type and resellers, 20% of which are certified. Until now, MSPs wishing to deliver a wide range of services using Paessler’s technology had no choice but to host the on-premise PRTG Network Monitor offer themselves. The launch of PRTG Hosted Monitor beyond the United States will save those who want to join the ranks of Paessler MSPs from having to do so.

No specific pricing for MSPs

Despite the fact that it wants to strengthen its proximity to MSPs, Paessler has not yet adapted its pricing model to that of this profile of partners who most often bill their customers on a monthly basis. Until further notice, they will have to pay the annual fee charged to them for the operation of PRTG Hosted Monitor in one installment. An approach that will inevitably lead MSPs to make cash advances. Unless they invoice the customers themselves for the year, if the latter accept.
