With Rubrik, the Afflelou group unifies the backup of its hybrid environments

Present in the franchise of optical products and hearing aids through its various brands, the Afflelou Group switched its IT infrastructure to hyperconverged systems in 2018, with a strategy oriented towards the hybrid cloud. Wanting to replace several backup tools specific to different environments with a unified solution, the group finally chose the platform offered by Rubrik.

“Our notoriety contributes to making our brand a preferred target. Beyond simplifying operations related to backups and restores, our priority was security. We wanted to be sure that the backups were truly immutable and that no ransomware system could alter or erase them,” explains Groupe Affelou CIO Ludovic Tassy. The ability to quickly and easily restore backups also came into play. During the selection process, Rubrik’s solution stood out on these criteria. “We were looking for the assurance of having reliable backups to rest easy despite the ransomware threat. By adopting Rubrik, we have this gain in serenity. I am much more serene now than I was before,” says the DSI. “Having a single tool that allows all environments to be backed up considerably simplifies the problem of security and data protection”, continues Ludovic Tassy. In addition to the benefits in terms of resilience, the implementation of the solution has also reduced backup costs by 20% compared to the initial configuration.
